Patch v232 – What’s New?

Patch v232 – What’s New?

Patch v232 has just hit our games and this brings us a lot of new content. We will cover some of the hightlights in this post and provide you with all the information you need to be up to date with the latest patch.

Beer brewing

We’ve finally got beer in the game! Woeh. So, now it’s time to get a hangover and find out what it is like to be drunk on an island filled with prehistoric creatures that try to kill you (what could go wrong?).

You can brew beer in a beer barrel, however it is currently bugged so you might not be able to learn this engram yet. The costs for the beer barrel are as follows:

  • 500 wood
  • 80 metal ingot
  • 100 cementing paste

In order to create beer, you will need to put 40 Thatch, 40 Berries (it doesn’t matter which ones as far as we can see) and water into the beer barrel and wait for a long period of time. It will then be turned to beer, which you can put in a water jar (not a waterskin or canteen) to have your own beer. The water jar will then turn into a so called “Beer Jar” for you to use.

When you’ve drank your “Beer jar”, you will get a yellow overlay on your screen with bubbles, indicating that you are intoxicated. We’ll add some screenshots of it soon!

Intoxication Buff / Hangover

Technically it is more of a de-buff, as the beer will be draining your stamina (and rather quickly). This will be accompanied by a yellow-ish glow over your screen, making it harder to see around you. When your stamina is fully drained, part two of the intoxication buff will commence; this is the “hangover” part. During your hangover, you aren’t able to restore any of your stamina. The result of this is that you are very slow in moving / looking around and get a little hangover idea.

Spawn commands

Beer barrel:

cheat giveitem "Blueprint'/Game/PrimalEarth/CoreBlueprints/Items/Structures/Misc/PrimalItemStructure_BeerBarrel.PrimalItemStructure_BeerBarrel'" 1 1 0)

Beer jar:

"Blueprint'/Game/PrimalEarth/CoreBlueprints/Items/Consumables/PrimalItemConsumable_BeerJar.PrimalItemConsumable_BeerJar' 1 1 0)

Known problems

People report that it is currently not possible to learn the engram of the beer barrel, as you will need the beer barrel engram for it that requires the beer barrel engram (you see where this goes wrong?) We’re waiting on a small update to fix this problem, so for now you can’t enjoy your beers yet. This has been quickly fixed in patch v232.1

Dung Beetle

The Dung Beetle has been added to the game. This poop-eating-oil-making-rainbow creature can be found in caves and other places around the island. The Dung Beetle is able to turn feces into an oily substance. You can put feces in the inventory of the beetle, put it on wandering!, and in around 30 minutes it will create oil and fertilizer from it. Depending on the type of feces, you’ll get the following amount of resources:

  • 1 large feces = 6 oil and 3 fertilizer
  • 1 medium = 4 oil 2 fertilizer
  • 1 small feces = 2 oil and 1 fertilizer

The feces are converted one by one, so putting in 10 feces will not give you 60 oil after half an hour.

Spawn Commands

If you want to spawn a Dung Beetle into your game, you can do so by using the following commands:

For a random level:

summon DungBeetle_Character_BP_C

For a specific level (change the last 1 to the level you want)

cheat SpawnDino "Blueprint'/Game/PrimalEarth/Dinos/DungBeetLe/DungBeetle_Character_BP.DungBeetle_Character_BP'" 1 1 1 1

Since the Dung Beetle is a passive tame, it’s better to spawn it a little bit further away from you. The best way to do that is as follows:

cheat SpawnDino "Blueprint'/Game/PrimalEarth/Dinos/DungBeetLe/DungBeetle_Character_BP.DungBeetle_Character_BP'" 1000 1 1 1

Taming

The Dung Beetle seems to be a passive tame, but you don’t need bug repellant (which was needed for the spider) as you can get very close without them attacking you. You can tame it by feeding it feces. The larger the feces, the better the taming will go, so go around and fetch as much large dinosaur feces as you possibly can. We are working on the taming calculator as we speak to update it with the Dung Beetle so we can give you a better idea of how much feces you’ll need. It seems you already need 5 large feces for a level 1 Dung Beetle and 31 large feces for a level 120. In addition, 7 medium feces or 13 small feces are needed to tame a level 1. Check the taming calculator for more information on taming requirements.

Be aware the other Dung Beetles will attack the beetle you are taming as soon as you give it food. So make sure to clear the area first or lure it to some place secure before taming it. It is also very helpful to apply both bug repellant and to equip a ghillie suit, as this will make it almost impossible for the Dung Beetle to notice you. If you don’t want to have the risk of aggro’ing the Dung Beetle, than that is the best way to go.

Dimetrodon

The Dimetrodon is able to protect you against heat and cold when you are standing near, so it can be a very useful companion on the island. It appears to give around 76 insulation when you are very close to it. However, the effect decreases very quickly as you will only get 40-50 insulation when you are just two steps away from it. In comparison to an A/C unit; they give you 100 insulation so a Dimetrodon is a good alternative if you are able to stay close enough.

Spawn commands

If you want to spawn one yourself, you can do so by using one of the following commands.

For a random level Dimetrodon:

summon Dimetro_Character_BP_C

For a specific level Dimetrodon (change the last 1 into the level you want):

cheat SpawnDino "Blueprint'/Game/PrimalEarth/Dinos/Dimetrodon/Dimetro_Character_BP.Dimetro_Character_BP'" 1 1 1 1

Taming

The Dimetrodon is a normal tame, which means that you can knock it out. It is a friendly creature, so being near it will not be a problem. The moment you attack it with a bow or tranq dart however, it will attack you. Luckily it is not very fast, so you can easily run around shooting it without a problem. The Dimetrodon’s favorite food seems to be Quetzal kibble and you can also give it the usual carnivore food (raw (prime) meat, etc.). We’re looking into the exact numbers to tame it, so we will keep you updated when we know more.

A valuable hint: the torpor on this creature goes down very fast (Giga-like), so make sure to bring a lot of narcotics as a level 1 will be awake in around 25 seconds (with 750 torpor). The taming resources seem a bit more normal, as it only took 4 Quetzal kibble to tame a level 1 Dimetrodon. Check the taming calculator for more information on taming requirements.

Known problems

It seems that if you breed two Dimetrodons and hatch the egg, you won’t get a baby Dimetrodon but a Sarcosuchus instead. Either the female has been up to other things in the swamp, or this is a little bug that needs to be fixed.

  1. The Dimetrodon is a horrible tame… very long, and needs a lot of narcotics (has a Giga torpor rate). Luckily, it eats slow, so not that much kibble (around 30 for a 120 on official it looks like).

  2. Rather sad it can’t go underwater…
it lives in the swamps, is faster in water, and looks like it should be able to go under…
but Nope, floating on the top like a little sailboat…

  3. I have always loved dimetrodon as an animal and Im happy it is added to the game, but for such a creature to have such high requirements to tame it almost seems like just investing in fur/ghillie suit would be a better option I mean I will tame one for the novelty of it but all the use that thing is going to get is to be an decoration
