Dossier Wild: Pteranodon wyvernus is a large pterosaur, capable of flying for incredibly long periods. While others I’ve seen on the island still call it a Pterodactyl, this is inaccurate. Domesticated: I don’t know how they did it, but I once saw a trio of Pteranodons with riders on them. This must be the fastest way to get around the island, but it can’t provide any measure of safety or secrecy. Known Information:The Pteranodon seems to be one of the least aberrant Reptile on the island. Pteranodon wyvernus mostly feeds itself by eating the small fish around the island, but they can also be found scavenging any number of dead animals. Dossier Wild: Elasmosaurus remuspissa has a strange role in the oceanic food chain. It almost exclusively hunts the smaller creatures in the waters, leaving most even moderately large creatures (such as humans) alone. The sheer size of the Elasmosaurus means that the quantity of creatures it must eat to sustain itself is nothing short of enormous. Domesticated: Much like the Brontosaurus on land, Elasmosaurus is an excellent way to transport large quantities of goods over water. These powerful creatures are in fact so large that they can be used as mobile water bases. Ambitious tribes sometimes build bunkers right onto the backs of Elasmosaurus instead of building cargo ships. Known Information: Despite its imposing size, Elasmosaurus stillRead More →

Mega Piranha

Dossier Wild: Megapiranha magnadmorsus is carnivorous fish found fairly commonly in the rivers and ponds of the island. Its bite is incredibly powerful; I’ve even seen them break through the armored turtles of the island. Megapiranha has one of the strongest bites, pound-for-pound, of any creature on the island. Domesticated: Like some of the other creatures on the island, a tamed Megapiranha is best suited as a guard. Their high metabolism makes them require more food than many other creatures, but they are very adept at hunting their own food, particularly the Coelacanths. Known Information: When encountering a Megapiranha, be on the lookout for the rest of the school. No one Megapiranha is an overwhelmingRead More →

Phiomia

Dossier Wild: Phiomia ignavus is another herd animal on the island. They are small enough that almost any predator can bring them down, but large enough to provide plenty of meat. Domesticated: While it is completely possible to ride a Phiomia around, they are a meager choice. They work very well, however, as pack-mules. And I’ve seen some communities keeping a herd of these around as livestock. The Phiomia require protection though, as they are terrible fighters. Known Information: Were it not for the protection of the herd, and their instinct to run from any predator, these would almost certainly be hunted to extinction. A Phiomia’s tusks and trunk make it especially suitedRead More →

Parasaurolophus

Dossier Wild: Parasaurolophus amphibio has some of the more interesting adaptions of all Creatures I’ve seen on the Island. Like all parasaur it has a signature head ridge. Very docile at first, I’ve often been able to approach them without complaint. If startled, however, the Parasaur immediately runs – very far and very fast. Domesticated: As a relatively simple creature to domesticate, Parasaurolophus amphibio is one of the most common mounts I’ve yet seen on the island. Its ability to run fairly fast for lengthy intervals makes it a solid mode of medium-range transportation, though it has almost no ability to defend itself or its rider. Known Information: This species ofRead More →

Paraceratherium

Dossier Wild: Paraceratherium Gigamicus is a massive, long-necked mammal that inhabits some of the island’s grasslands. It resembles a gigantic horse/rhinoceros hybrid, but is over twice the size of either. Paraceratherium is a very peaceful and friendly herbivore, and doesn’t even seem to mind other creatures near its nest. Domesticated: A beast of burden second to the Brontosaurus, Paraceratherium is an excellent worker. It is a naturally friendly animal, and is not afraid of humans. However despite its normally calm demeanor, when it or its owner is provoked by aggression, the Paraceratherium can quickly become a real threat to the attacker and will use its girth to its advantage in combat. Known Information: BarringRead More →

Pachycephalosaurus

Dossier Wild: Pachycephalosaurus is a bit of a conundrum. It is a very passive (even friendly) herbivore, common to much of the island. At the same time, it is one of the most dangerous herbivores that I have yet encountered on the island. Its charging headbutt is a display of sheer physical power, and can kill much more quickly than you might think. Domesticated: Pachycephalosaurus is an excellent battle-mount for those who want to ride a smaller, nimble combatant into the fray. Because of its particular musculature, it cannot effectively carry large quantities of resources. It can, however, move with brief magnificent bursts of speed, and its headbutt isRead More →

Mesopithecus

Dossier Wild: Mesopithecus amicufur is an omnivorous monkey species, primarily inhabiting the island’s jungles. It is smaller than a human, but can move at about the same speed. It is not normally aggressive, but small groups of Mesopithecus can be troublesome. Additionally, their curious nature means they will try to steal anything they see fall to the ground. Domesticated: A common pet, Mesopithecus is very easy to keep fed. It will eat nearly anything, though it prefers fruits to meats. Mesopithecus is most often used as a social companion, as it cannot carry enough to be a beast of burden, is not large enough to be ridden, and is not particularly useful forRead More →

Megalodon

Dossier Wild: Were it not restricted to the waters, Carcharodon ultramegalodon might be the most dangerous creature on the island. Domesticated: If someone is able to tame this beast, that person would be the undisputed ruler of the oceans around the island and would have access to resources no one can safely find! Known Information: As powerful and dangerous as the Tyrannosaurus is on land, Megalodon is its equal in the water. In addition, it has a speed advantage over any non-aquatic creature. Megalodons need large quantities of food to sustain themselves, so they attack most creatures immediately on sight. Smaller fish are the sole exception I’ve seen; I believe thisRead More →

Mammoth

Dossier Wild: Seeing the likes of Mammuthus steincaput alongside dinosaurs is still strange. Domesticated: Mammuthus steincaput is a difficult beast to domesticate. Not because they are inherently stubborn, but because knocking one out to begin the taming process takes forever. Once tamed, however, Mammoths are one of the only creatures on the island that can uproot trees without shattering them. Known Information: This behemoth towers over most creatures on the island, and does not seem to fear anything but the Tyrannosaurus. Mammoths generally thrive in colder areas and have a herd mentality. I’m honestly not certain how the herds of Mammoths find enough plant life to graze on some ofRead More →
